Welcome To The Gunn Show

{If you follow me on Instagram, sorry that you’re kind of getting this story twice. Please accept this awesome musical mash-up as my apology. But she just.kept.going.on about the costume.}

Yesterday evening, Delilah suddenly stopped what she was doing, eyes nearly bugging out of her head as she remembered she had been saving something for DAYS that she’d wanted to show me.

She scampered off to her room, and when she returned she was clutching her very first tear sheet. Or should I say Pin?

“Mom,” she declared (she always calls me Mom now) “I really want to wear this for Halloween. And purple shoes. Please.”

I just about dropped to the floor. Oh, my sweet girl has a style all her own. And I love it. I just hope it calms the ef down before Jr. High.

I leaned down, choking on the sweetness, and casually checked the price. It stung a bit, but her birthday is October 8th, so if this special creation is what my lady wants, then so be it. “Okay lady. You want to wear that? I’ll get that for you.”

Her little voice shot up ten octaves. “You WILL?!” She climbed in to my lap, tear-sheet still in hand, and got very serious.

“And the bracelet and the necklace?” she asked, properly afraid to look this gift horse in the mouth. I nodded “Okay. The bracelet and the necklace too.”

Then she wrinkled her tiny nose: “I don’t like the hat though. And not the wings. Just the bracelet and the necklace and the dress. And purple shoes.” “Okay lady. The bracelet and the necklace and purple shoes, too.”

She shrieked with joy (I love it when she does that) and proceeded to run around the house, returning to ask several times “You’re going to get that for me? Where do we get that? At the market? Can we get that at the sparkly market?”

Oh Delilah George, I love you so.
