I Got All Obsessed With Lavender Hair On Pinterest. So I Gave Myself Some.

It started with this photo. I love it. I’ve always wanted purple hair….

Scott often likes to remind me (often meaning since I started jabbering about coloring my hair purple a few months ago) that I had purple hair, which is technically true, but then I grew up and I was sure I would never be able to color my hair purple again, because y’know…grown ups don’t do that….and….what would your employer say…which of course only made me wish I could have purple hair more than ever before. Even more than when I was fourteen.

Because the angst-ridden-teen-rebel in me just won’t die…y’know?

But I dunno…lately something about Pinterest or The Hunger Games made me feel like it would be totally okay to dye my hair Lilac, or Lavender, or whatever you call it.

And I mean, it’s only going to get more ridiculous the older I get, unless I’m willing to wait until I’m like Jessica Tandy’s age when she made Fried Green Tomatoes.

Which I’m not.

And Pinterest just kept yielding photo after photo of borderline adult women with gorgeous and enviable lavender hair. I couldn’t help myself. I decided to seize the day.

So while most folks were dying easter eggs in pastels, I dipped my head instead.

And then while I tried to take some self portraits for you, my favorite lady decided to join me. So then I couldn’t pick just one. But anyway, lavender hair! Hooray!

OMG. It’s the lavender hair combined with the mink lashes and the amazing-looking tattooed eyebrows that make me want to go all Single White Female on you. Except without the perverse weirdness/horribly creepy part, and focusing more on the really awesome worshiping from afar via the interwebs part. You look fabulous Morgan, well done!

I love it. I pinned tons of lilac hair about a month ago and was planning to get it done once I got back from seeing my Grandma but now I’m re-entering the job market unexpectedly I’m unsure.

This works really well for you – one of the best colors you’ve ever had. Looking good :-)

I am 58 and have been loving my lavender hair. Don’t care how old you are, if you want it, do it. Luckily, I am not working or I would have to give in to the company creed…but I AM NOT so I embraced my lavender first with hi lights on my platinum hair and now my whole head is a lovely color of hyacinth. Love it and you look fabulous!

So beautiful! Was it a permanent hair color?

Thank you! The most permanent pastel I’ve found is Pravana, but it really only lasts 2-3 weeks. Violet shampoo helps, and adding dye to your conditioner.
