Cut Your Crap: No, Your Literal Crap

Forgive me body, for I have sinned.  It has been three years since my last cleanse, and I have not treated you well in that time.  I have demanded so much of you – and you have delivered.  You created life.  I ignored your ailments.  You screamed for respite; I laughed in the face of your cries.

80 lbs up.  100 lbs down.  8 lbs up.  Tedious.  Counter intuitive.  Emotional. Workouts.  Crash diets.  30 Gallons of Water up the exit.  And don’t even get me started on what I’ve done to my eyebrows.

And so here we are.  Every minute of the abuse I’ve leveled against you now evident in each ache, each pain, each dehydrated patch of skin.  Oh body.  Why have I forsaken you?

So this past weekend, in the wake of broken New Years resolutions and several pounds of holiday weight, I pulled out a cookbook written by a doctor that my doctor likes, and I went to the grocery store.  I skipped over the Frosted Flakes and Slim Fast Shakes.  I bought yams, and cauliflower, and curries, and fish…

I’m not going on a diet.  It’s just time.  And it begins with a detox.  Because if my body is a temple, right now it’s a dilapidated one filled with squatters.

The thing that’s cool about having a blog where you over share a lot of stuff is that when the future presents something like this:

Sometimes someone reads that post about your buffet of autoimmune disorders and offers you access to their miracle spa so you can give it a try.  So every few days for the next month, I’m going to go and shake my toxins out, while simultaneously working out and de-stressing.  Also I’m going to chill out afterwards in the infrared sauna which is going to be super crazy awesome for my detox.  I’ll let you guys know how it goes.  And if you’re lucky, maybe I’ll post a video of myself on one of those machines.  It ain’t pretty.

And speaking of being kind to your body…
