This leaf bug took up residence on our back slider all weekend long, and I couldn’t stop geeking out staring at him, watching him (or her) breathe, and hoping that the three inch monster didn’t decide to launch into flight while I was nose to nose with him checking out his sticky little feet. When Delilah woke up the first morning he was there, I ushered her over all eager to show her how he looked just like a leaf, but was actually a bug.
“Yeah Mommy,” she said, through sleepy eyes, as if I knew nothing at all.
“…That’s camouflage.”
