Having nothing to do with it’s actual meaning, ever since I first learned the word in Mr. Dewey’s 5th Grade Class, I have always connoted “Pedagogy” with some sort of weird sickness. To this day, anytime I see something made up of small and large dots my brain goes to Pedagogy – no matter how beautiful that something is. Take this handmade necklace from Etsy (which I totally want.) Delicate. Elegant. Screams DISEASE to me.
[Pedagogy is not a disease. It’s quite the opposite.]Pedagogy
[ped-uh-goh-jee, -goj-ee]
–noun, plural -gies.
1. the function or work of a teacher; teaching.
2. the art or science of teaching; education; instructional methods.
In other word-related news from my 5th grade spelling class…did you know that pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is the longest word in the english dictionary? (At least it was in 1991.) Ironically, it refers to something very tiny.
