You want to talk about a woman who knows how to get LA purging?
That adorable {and remarkably collected} doyenne up there is a serious bad ass. Her name is Kristin Nelson and she runs this thing called LA KIDS CONSIGNMENT that started with a few Moms doing a clothes swap in her driveway has become such a massive hit that I’m pretty sure she does it as a full time job (but don’t quote me on that. Not that you would.)
And it’s ALWAYS amazing. Sara brought me to my first one when I was 39 weeks pregnant, and I haven’t skipped one of Kristin’s sale’s since. This year we’ve already sold in consignment crap (it’s not CRAP but you know) we wanted out of our house, more than the purchases we made at the pre-sale (a bonus for consignors and volunteers.) WE BOUGHT KID STUFF AND MADE MONEY, YO.
They have pretty much EVERYTHING you would ever need (except car sears, for legal reasons.) My Mom even picked up a little swing set for Dee to have in her yard. As Kristin’s motto goes “Kids are Expensive, their stuff doesn’t have to be.” Sale runs through Sunday out in Monrovia, for my local friends.
And on Sunday, whatever hasn’t sold gets discounted %50. DO NOT MISS IT.
We scored a Learning Tower for 50$ (the exact thing I went in search of) and pretty much everything else we need for our next six months, until Kristin does another sale (she does them year round these days – at least twice, but I think she’s up to six sales now, Pasadena, Santa Clarita, and THE818, each of which get a spring and a fall three day run where you can really save yourself some $$$.)

{Update: As of day two we have covered all our purchases in sales! Consigning works!}
