Delilah was supposed to be a Peacock for Halloween. But she didn’t like her peacock outfit…she’s big on saying “I don’t like it” these days. I’m not convinced she fully understands the phrase.
Then she conceeded that she would wear last year’s Tinkerbell costume which has taken up residence in her dress-up arsenal, so Miss Picky Pants is more comforable with the idea of it, I guess. But still not that comfortable because she only wore it long enough for me to take that one photo and then she insisted I take it off so she could “see her tummy.”
In the end, it was a hand-me-down “This is My Bat Shirt” from Dashiell and her beloved pink sparkly shoes that won out as we bribed her into wearing clothes with promises of going trick or treating at “Auntie Maegan’s house.” We mostly held up our end of the bargain. By the time we rallied it had gotten dark so rather than taking the tot from house to house we crashed Maeg and Pep’s night and let Dee greet the parade of costumed kiddos squealing in delight at the sight of M & P’s insane stash of full-sized candy bars. I’m pretty sure I heard one little girl yell “THAT WAS A BEAUTIFUL THING!” as she rejoined her parents at the curb.
So, uh…anyone want to buy a perfectly good peacock costume?
