Ikea Prefab has finally arrived out west. Yes, you read that right. After offering their extensive (and impressive) line of Prefab homes only to those lucky enough to share a continent with the Swedish manufacturer, we here in the good old U S of A can finally get in on the awesome!
Now, not only can you snag the affordable Scandinavian design you’ve come to know and love from that mecca of home furnishings, but you can also take home your very own house, flat packed and ready to build! What could be better?!
No seriously, I’m not being sarcastic. If you’ve been reading for a while you might remember that I am a freak for prefab. So far Ikea’s released the Aktiv model through Portland-Based Ideabox (assisted by Ikea’s non-meatball eating Portland design team) which is a single-bedroom, 745 square foot residence, but I might just have to start looking at vacant lots again in preparation for the three-bedroom I can toss on the roof of my VW.
