“Rainbow Star and The Mustache Man”

I remember the first story I ever wrote down. It was about a kid-spy named Peanut who had bullet proof skin and lived in the future. I was eight. I wrote it in a notebook and made a cover for it out of the sheets of cardboard that the cleaners sent back in my Dad’s folded dress shirts. (Come to think of it, I used to swipe those pieces of cardboard from my Dad’s closet on a regular basis for a variety of projects and he never complained.)

Anyway, I have no idea what happened to my hand-crafted hand-written book, but it doesn’t really matter because I can see it in my mind clear as day. And now I’ve got my daughter’s first story to add to my mental library. She can’t write yet, so I transcribed it for her, and like my protagonist Peanut we live in the future so Dee’s first story was digitally bound using Disney’s Story app — she calls it the Story “game” because that’s what she calls all apps. Also I have no idea where she got the name Fred, but she uses it for all of her make believe games. (Sasha, Rosa, and Fred are her go-to characters…I’m actually surprised she’s mixing things up with this new Rainbow Star person.)

Anyway, without further ado…Rainbow Star and The Mustache Man
