Twenty Nine Candles

June 2nd, 1981.   Somewhere in the Valley…

I spent a lot of time thinking about my Mom today – thinking about what she was doing 29 years ago at this time – something I did so recently, and yet something that already seems like a distant memory.   Still, at 10:41 this morning, she called me, and recounted the morning of my birth for me in vivid detail.    This year, I have a different appreciation for “birth” days.   Thanks Mom, for growing me, for carrying me, for waking up in the middle of the night with me, and for bringing me into this world.

{And after flipping though the album to find these photos this morning, I feel compelled to note that you looked better than me doing it.   I kind of resent that.   But I love you anyway.}

And as for me…I feel good about turning 29.   I think it’s going to agree with me.

[Here’s a picture of me fresh from the oven.   It’s kind of graphic.   You’ve been warned.]
