My cousin Adam married his high school sweetheart Stephanie in a beautiful ceremony at Brooklyn Botanic Gardens (what can I say? Puppy love runs in the family.) After arriving on the Party Bus (a shuttle which took us from Long Island to Brooklyn) we were greeted by fizzy glasses of Champagne, and bamboo parasols to shield us from the sun as we waited for the outdoor ceremony to begin in the Gardens. Steph and Adam had both a Priest and a Rabbi perform their interfaith ceremony, and it was really beautifully done. It was touching, and perfectly balanced – both clergymen did a wonderful job of making the guests feel included in all parts of their ceremony.
The reception was picture perfect – I knew this would be an event to remember, as Steph’s attention to detail is practically unrivaled – let’s just say she did Martha proud. The site itself was so beautiful, a room build entirely from glass, looking out onto the Gardens, and they complimented it beautifully with simple arrangements of white Peonies (one of my favorite flowers – which are actually in Season for once!) Guests were treated to a four course meal, and you can bet your ass I packed away every single one of those delicious courses, which included Pasta (traditional for Italian Weddings, in honor of Steph’s Italian-ness) and Beef Wellington. And as a special treat, we all got to take home a jar of the famous Sara Beth’s Jam…a gift that keeps on giving. (I’m smearing some of it on toast as I type…trying not to get any on the keyboard…)
I’ve come up short on detail shots to tantalize you with – being 5 mos pregnant, I was mostly too busy gorging on their mind-blowingly good meal to focus on my usual obsessive documenting of all things wedding related. But I did manage to snap a couple of shots at the wedding, and for what I missed, I’m stealing from my cousin Andi’s stash to make up for it.
